DESIGNER PROFILE.
ELLIOT WARD-FEAR
“From the humble beginnings of a childhood dress up box, fashion designer Elliot Ward-Fear has become a highly anticipated addition to the Australian fashion landscape. Lauded as the most promising avant-garde fashion designer in Australia, Elliot’s RAFW debut in 2010 as part of the Innovators group show was met with critical acclaim from both national and international buyers and media. “Ward-Fear will appeal to those who revel in the unique and fiercely creative,” said Madison; his A/W look book, a collection entitled ‘Spirit of Clothing’, garnered international press, featuring on Dazed Digital, Another magazine blog and The Fashion Spot”

Behind The Scenes: Elliot Ward-Fear’s Stunning A/W 11 Look Book
“Elliot Ward-Fear’s remarkable A/W 11 collection, Spirit of Clothing, (the preposterously confident followup to his RAFW debut, Beauty in Exile) boasts craftsmanship, clarity of vision and courage that truly belies his youth. From intricate paneling and derriere revealing heart shaped cut outs, this collection warrants the kind of attention granted to Ward-Fear’s Sydney contemporary and fellow TAFE NSW alumni Dion Lee.” Ash for Pedestrian

Buy a high from Elliot Ward-Fear
“Elliot Ward-Fear, Sydney’s finest proponent of Perspex spikes and other exaggerated couture, is perhaps most famous for his sprained-ankle-inducing, sky-high shoes.
His appropriately fear-inducing 18 cm wedge boots resulted in a model taking a tumble on the runway earlier this year at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.
However, after a comfortable trot around the office in which tootsies remained in tact, Oyster’s Alyx and Mariella swear that Ward-Fear’s shoes are far from impossible to walk in.
A super limited edition run of the architectural beauties is now available in sizes 39, 40 and 41, at a cost of $600 a pair. They come packaged in a specially built black mesh bag, with suede paneling and fringing handmade by Sicilian Nuns.
This tiny run is for hardcore shoe fiends, and offers heelaholics a chance to own a piece of Australian fashion history. To purchase a pair, email matt@motherandfatherpr.com.au. ”

“Certain phrases and words get bandied around when it comes to new designers; ‘One to Watch’, ‘wunderkind’ and ‘rising star’ are a few that spring to mind. It’s rare that the bestowal of such gushing descriptors is actually warranted, and rarer still for those who are so branded to live up to their overwrought expectations. Luckily Australian Fashion Week debutante Elliot Ward Fear, is none of the above. He’s better. ”

One to Watch: Elliot Ward-Fear
“Elliot Ward-Fear is a designer to watch at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, with the young talent selected to showcase his avant-garde collection as part of the Innovators show. He follows in the footsteps of fellow Fashion Design Studio graduate Dion Lee, and the designer’s much-anticipated debut collection, Beauty in Exile, is sure to create a stir, with Ward-Fear describing the clothes as ‘exaggerated, wearable couture’. The innovative anthology blends European glamour with the simplicity of Asian design aesthetics, fusing East and West to create a unique style that will doubtless become Ward-Fear’s signature.”

Ward-Fear is showing for the first time at this year’s RAFW, as part of the Fashion Design Studio’s Group Show.”
